Digital transformation is impossible to think of without using some form of artificial intelligence (AI). According to Davenport (2018), AI provides support for digitizing several types of activities within organizations: (1) automating structured and repetitive processes using robotics (for physical tasks) and robotic process automation (for electronic tasks), (2) gaining insights through analysis of structured data using machine learning (e.g., neural networks and deep learning), (3) making expert decisions using expert systems combined with machine learning, and (4) engaging with customers and employees using natural language processing and machine learning. Thus, organizations that want to embark on the digital transformation journey must start building its AI capabilities along with embracing digital mindset and culture.
