How to prioritize processes to be optimized if your company has just embarked on the BPM journey?

Imagine if your company has come to a decision to start working on its processes in order to standardize them, cut costs, and make them transparent. The first question that comes to mind is where to start and how to prioritize your processes. What I usually suggest is to start from something outside of the core operations, but meaningful in terms of the business impact. Usually, the best candidates are Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, or some people related processes like recruitment and staffing. In this way, you can start your journey on the learning curve, show quick results that matter, and gain your stakeholders' trust and approval for further actions.
